How Much Is Apple Music? Plans and Pricing in 2026

Compare Apple Music Individual, Student and Family prices, plus Apple One. Calculate household savings and check trial and renewal terms before paying.
Apple Music's US monthly prices are $11.99 for Individual, $19.99 for Family and $6.99 for eligible students when checked. The right option depends on who will listen and whether an Apple bundle replaces other services you already buy.
Apple Music plans and prices
| US plan | Monthly cost | Who it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Student | $6.99 | One verified eligible student |
| Individual | $11.99 | One listener |
| Family | $19.99 | Up to six people through Family Sharing |
See Apple's current Music plans for local prices, taxes and trial eligibility. Family members use their own accounts, libraries and recommendations; follow Apple's Family Sharing rules.
When does Family save money?
At these rates, two Individual memberships total $23.98 per month, compared with $19.99 for Family: a difference of $3.99 per month, or $47.88 over twelve months if prices stay unchanged.
But compare the plans people actually qualify for. Two eligible Student subscriptions total $13.98 a month, which is less than Family. Counting listeners alone is not enough when discounts differ.
Choose a plan from active users, eligibility and account rules. Do not buy a family slot from an unknown seller on the assumption that it is equivalent to managing your own eligible Family Sharing group.
Student pricing and eligibility
Apple requires student verification. The discounted membership is available for up to four years while eligibility continues, after which the Individual rate applies. The checked Student offer includes Apple TV access under its conditions; confirm the current entitlement during verification.
Set a reminder for any revalidation request and compare the later cost before assuming the discounted price will last through every stage of your studies. Our student subscription discounts guide covers other eligibility-based savings.

Apple Music or Apple One?
Apple One bundles Music with other Apple services. The checked US monthly prices are $21.95 for Individual, $27.95 for Family and $39.95 for Premier. Included services, storage and availability differ by tier and country.
Compare the bundle against the services you genuinely want. Start with the music plan that fits you, add the separate subscriptions you would keep, then compare that total with the appropriate bundle. An unwanted included service should contribute zero to your personal savings calculation.
Check storage carefully. If the bundle's allowance is too small, additional storage can change the total. Our iCloud+ guide helps evaluate that part of the decision.
Use a trial to test your normal listening setup
Before switching, test the service on your usual phone, computer, speakers and car system. Check your must-have artists and playlists, downloads for travel and the controls you use every day.
Do not select a plan solely from an audio feature you cannot use on your equipment. Make sure the experience is better in your normal listening environment, not just in a feature comparison.
- Find a representative set of albums and playlists.
- Test playback on every important device.
- Check offline listening and mobile-data settings.
- Verify which household members need access.
- Record the trial conversion date and regular charge.
Switch without paying twice indefinitely
A short overlap can make it easier to check playlist transfer and device compatibility. Give that overlap an end date so a migration does not become two permanent music subscriptions.
Review our Spotify pricing and offers guide or TIDAL plan guide if you are choosing between services. Compare daily usability and your actual listening preferences, then keep the subscription that fits.
Cancellation and renewal
Check where the subscription is billed. Apple's cancellation guide explains how to manage Apple-billed subscriptions; a carrier or another billing partner may require a different route.
Read the displayed access end date before confirming cancellation, especially for a trial. Keep the confirmation and check the next statement. Downloaded subscription music should not be treated as a permanent purchase that remains available after the entitlement ends.
Frequently asked questions
Is Apple Music free?
The full subscription service is paid. Eligible offers may include a trial, with conditions and a later recurring charge.
How many people can use Family?
Up to six people in total under Family Sharing, with individual accounts.
Is Apple One always cheaper?
No. It costs more than standalone Music and only creates value for you when its other services replace things you would otherwise buy.
Should two students choose Family?
Not automatically. Compare both verified Student memberships with the Family price and check the applicable rules.
