Can you still get 2 TB for $9.99?#

The public US page currently shows a 2 TB Google AI Plus option at $9.99 per month. You do not need to assume that the more expensive Pro bundle is the only way to obtain that amount of storage. Existing subscribers should compare their own renewal terms before switching; a public offer and an older account's plan may differ.

How much Google One storage do you need?#

Open your Google storage breakdown and record the space used by Gmail, Drive and Photos. Add the space you expect to need for upcoming projects or a growing photo library, rather than choosing the largest affordable tier.

Illustrative example: if your account uses 70 GB and grows by about 2 GB each month, another year would add about 24 GB. That would put you close to a 100 GB allowance. This is a planning estimate, not a prediction of your account: video uploads or a new backup can change it quickly.

For family sharing, total the storage needs of eligible members. A shared allowance is one pool, not the full advertised capacity for each person. If only one member needs AI features, separately check which benefits can be shared before choosing the bundle.

Annual Billing and Family Sharing#

Compare monthly and annual options in the signed-in selector. Pro’s checked US annual price is $199.99 upfront, compared with $19.99 monthly. Confirm the selected variant and normal renewal.

Google AI Ultra is presented as a monthly subscription. Promotions and renewal amounts can vary by plan, account, billing platform, and region, so read both the amount charged today and the later renewal price before committing.

The paid plans covered here generally support family sharing with up to five additional members. Family members share the available storage pool but keep their own files private unless they deliberately share them. Google also allows family members on eligible AI plans to use selected AI features at no additional charge, although not every benefit or usage allowance is necessarily shared. Confirm the current family terms for the specific tier before relying on a particular AI feature.

Is Google One Worth It in 2026?#

Start with the smallest plan that meets your current usage plus reasonable growth. Do not buy an AI bundle solely because it has more storage if a suitable smaller option is available.

Google AI Pro at $19.99 per month is stronger value for people who will use its higher Gemini limits, Deep Research, Gemini inside Google apps, NotebookLM, YouTube Premium Lite, Google Home Premium Standard, and the included 5 TB of storage. If you only want cloud storage and would rarely use the AI features, compare the current Google One options with iCloud+ or Microsoft 365's bundled OneDrive storage before deciding.

Already on an Old Plan? What Legacy Subscribers Should Know#

If you subscribed under an older Google storage pricing plan, your account may show different names, benefits, or renewal terms from those offered to new subscribers. Google says customers who purchased storage under an old pricing plan can continue renewing until they choose to upgrade or their payment information expires.

Before changing an older subscription, record the storage allowance, renewal price, billing platform and replacement options. Do not assume you can restore the same terms after cancelling.

Check Your Real Usage Before Paying for More#

Before upgrading any tier, spend ten minutes at one.google.com/storage, which breaks your usage down across Gmail, Drive, and Photos. People who feel short on space often find that much of it sits in original-quality photo and video backups, large email attachments, forgotten Drive files, spam, or trash.

Google's storage manager can help identify large files, photos, videos, attachments, and items that can be removed. Switching Google Photos from original quality to Storage saver for future uploads may also slow storage growth. Depending on the contents of your account, cleaning up first may delay the need to upgrade or show that the Basic tier provides enough room. Upgrade when your usage after cleanup says you need to, rather than reacting immediately to a warning banner.

How to Change, Downgrade, or Cancel Google One#

Plan changes happen at one.google.com or through the Google One app. When you upgrade a plan purchased through Google Play, the change generally takes effect immediately. How the remaining value of the old subscription is handled depends on the type of change: it may become additional days on the new plan or, when switching from a standard storage plan to an AI plan, result in a partial refund.

A downgrade normally takes effect at the start of the next billing cycle, while cancelling allows you to keep your existing storage and benefits until the current paid period ends. Most Google storage purchases are non-refundable, although local consumer rules and the billing platform can affect refund eligibility.

If your usage exceeds the new storage limit after a downgrade or cancellation, your existing content remains in the account, but important services are restricted. Gmail may stop sending and receiving messages, Drive may stop uploads, syncing, file creation, editing, and copying, and Google Photos may stop backing up new photos and videos. If an account remains over its storage quota for two years, Google may delete content after providing advance notice and an opportunity to reduce usage or purchase more storage.
